Students pay cross-border visit to Great Wall

Some 50 final-year students of Higher Diploma in Accountancy from the School of Business and Information Systems, a member of Vocational Training Council, with teaching staff took a two-hour coach ride from Hong Kong to visit the production base of Great Wall (Optical) Plastic Works Limited in Yiantian, Dongguan on 18 December 2009.

Jointly lined up and supported by Cosmos and Great Wall, the activity enabled the youngsters to explore the business environment in China and enhance their understanding in the production, accounting, sales and marketing aspects of manufacturing business. It was also an ideal opportunity for them to experience learning beyond campus and broaden their horizons so that they can better prepare themselves and contribute to the community in their future career.

On arrival at the production base, the students received a briefing of the plastic processing and manufacturing plant from management of Great Wall including Deputy General Manager Mr. Paul Cham and Factory Manager Mr. K.H. Kwan. A guided tour with supplementary explanation of the production floor, accounting office, administrative office, and sales department was then organized for the participants to learn how each of the functional units operated independently but at the same time collectively as a whole. The visit was wrapped up with a question-and-answer session and a photo opportunity.

The students and teaching staff from the School of Business and Information Systems and representatives from Cosmos and Great Wall shot group photo together at the production base of Great Wall in Yiantian, Dongguan.
